Humidity Cards
Humidity and moisture are invisible yet caustic elements that can cause quick worsening of products in contact. To shun their destructive effects, companies generally rely on packaging experts who can provide them with the required moisture barriers to protect their goods. Although moisture barrier bags or vapor barrier bags one shortcoming and i.e. it is often difficult to moderate the actual levels of humidity within. But there exists a solution for this problem and that is humidity indicator card. Indicating cards are confirm the presence of moisture and hence can make the packaging process a success. These little cards are positioned inside the moisture barrier bag and can be checked time to time at regular intervals during the process of storage. These cards can also be checked at the time of the arrival of shipment and damage can be predicted.  These cards work on an easy color-coded system; they point out dampness levels, and hence show the successful working levels of the desiccants and barrier bags. These cards provide low cost solution for indicating humidity conditions inside a vacuum packaged barrier bag.

Moisture is the biggest enemy for any sensitive product like metal or electronic items. So, in order to ensure the safety of the products it is important to keep a check on the atmospheric conditions of that place where the product has to be stored. This is not only the best rather the cheapest way to know about the atmospheric humidity. Moisture is not the only time where the product has danger from moisture, but even while transportation any item can easily come in contact with atmospheric moisture and many loose its originality. There are various products in market which helps to absorbs moisture from the environment. But how may someone know that which desiccant to use in different humidity situations. To, check the atmospheric humidity with humidity indicating cards and then use the appropriate desiccant.
Now, the question arises that what is the indicator cards made up of, which makes it so much efficient that it is able to analyses the amount of humidity in the atmosphere. The cards have a layer of cobalt chloride solution which is mixed carefully to change its color from blue to various shaded of magenta, red to pink.

Sometimes Humidity Card is also said as desiccant. Humidity indicating card as spotted layer of cobalt chloride solution. When it reacts with moist air it changes its color from blue to magenta- red to pink. This indicates different level of moisture content in environment. Although, these cards are not made to precisely indicate the percentage of moisture in air but it is very good in informing the maximum possible moisture content. For example if all the dots on the card are dark blue in color then it can be assured that the moisture level is below 10%. To know the moisture content of the environment is very important because as long as the humidity level is below 40% there are very less chances that basic corrosion activities will happen.
Some applications where the involvement of humidity indicating cards is important are in the storage of semiconductor and electronic items. As moisture is the biggest enemy of electronic items it is very important that the place where the electronic device has to be kept should be free from moisture. Also, it is like a blessing to the food and packaging industry as know very well that moisture enhances the microbial activities. Pharmaceutical industry is also another place where it is used in huge quantity. As a result it is produced by many desiccant industries in bulk.

Humidity indicating cards are said to be one of the most cost efficient way to analyze the best atmospheric conditions for storing the any type of items which can be easily hampered by moist air. Humidity indicating cards have moisture sensitive spots which scenes and responds accordingly to various levels of moisture content in the nearby environment. It also has the capacity to absorb 5%, 10%, 15% or 30% of moisture according to the required specifications. It indicates that the environment has moisture content in it by changing its color from blue to pink. To know that the card is working correctly and qualifies under the JDEC standards, the card is kept is an air tight moisture bags and then the humidity content is checked.
Humidity indicating cards
There are various advantages of using humidity indicating cards. It is not only a very cheap way to take environment analysis but it also helps to know the humidity conditions in various barrier packaging. Its best feature is that it can instantly give you a visual verification regarding the environment.
